“Everyone is affected by mental health. That’s why I’m pleased Jacksons has chosen to support Tyneside and Northumberland Mind”.
A commercial property solicitor at Jacksons Law Firm, based in Newcastle has spoken out about the fact “everyone is affected by mental health” as she praised her colleagues’ decision to support Tyneside and Northumberland Mind this year.
Jacksons Law Firm holds several fundraising events throughout the year, with all employees having the opportunity to vote for the charity they wish to benefit.
This year, staff at the firm’s city centre offices in Central Square opted to support Tyneside and Northumberland Mind.
This was in line with staff at the firm’s Teesside office on Preston Farm Industrial Estate, who also chose to support the charity’s Teesside branch.
The separate votes by employees across the two offices means that both Mind charities across the Tyne Tees region will benefit from Jacksons’ fundraising and awareness raising initiatives this year.
Hannah Wardell, a commercial property solicitor at Jacksons, was one of the many employees who voted for Tyneside and Northumberland Mind in the ballot.
She said she was “so pleased” about the result, adding: “I voted for Tyneside and Northumberland Mind as our charity of the year as I am sure most people have either themselves struggled, or witnessed someone close to them struggle with their mental health, or relied on services offered by Tyneside and Northumberland Mind.
“I hope our support can do some good in our local community and further encourage the team at Jacksons to reach out and talk to someone if they feel they need it.”
Jacksons is committed to a culture of openness when it comes to employee wellbeing and discussions around mental health issues – and hopes that its partnerships with the two North East Mind charities will help tackle stigma and raise awareness.
Alex Wilson, CEO of Tyneside and Northumberland Mind, said: ‘Being chosen as Jacksons Law Charity of the Year for 2024 is an incredible opportunity for us and we are thrilled to have the support of such a prestigious and well-respected firm.
“Their commitment to our cause not only helps us raise much needed funds but also plays a crucial role in raising awareness about mental health issues.
“This partnership, alongside our partners at Teesside Mind is a fantastic chance for us to reach more people who are in need of our services.”
She added Tyneside and Northumberland Mind was “very grateful to the entire team at Jacksons Law for their dedication”.
“We look forward to working closely together throughout the year to make a positive impact,” she said.
Caroline Harrison, HR advisor at Jacksons Law Firm, added: “Jacksons is delighted to be supporting and collaborating with Tyneside and Northumberland Mind as our chosen charity of the year!
“This charity was independently nominated by our employees, which demonstrates the value and importance of mental health awareness across our firm.
“Our established relationship with this charity enhances our employee wellbeing strategy and ongoing commitment to supporting the mental health of our employees.”
She added: “We are committed and excited to continue our work with Tyneside and Northumberland Mind into the future.”
Nicola Neilson, partner at Jacksons Law Firm added: “As Hannah has said, mental health is something that touches all our lives at one point or another, whether we are affected by mental ill health ourselves or someone close to us is affected.
“I’m therefore delighted that our colleagues in Newcastle have voted to support Tyneside and Northumberland Mind this year.
“Through this partnership, I hope we can continue to increase support and awareness for our team and for the local communities which we serve.”
